GreenZone GREEN ZONE

With Matt Damon, Greg Kinnear, Brendan Gleeson, Amy Ryan, Khalid Abdalla, Yigal Naor, Said Faraj

Written by Brian Helgeland (based on the book by Rajiv Chandrasekaran)
Directed by Paul Greengrass

With themes in his movies mostly treading political / conflicting / war / terrorism ground (within an action framework), director Greengrass joins up again with his Bourne sequels star Matt Damon for an Iraqi war tale around Weapons Of Mass Destruction. Heading a US military team searching for these WMD's (one of the main excuses the Bush Jr. administration used to declared war on Iraq), an American soldier starts to question the bad intel that leads them to constant dead ends. While on one such wild goose chase, an Iraqi citizen approaches him with critical information that some of the wanted high ranking Saddam cohorts are meeting in a house nearby. This sets in motion a dangerous race to not only get to the right people, but also to the truth. With top ranking (and conflicting) government personnel and a journalist in the mix, the lies and deflections run very deep as a wide reaching conspiracy is unearthed. Combining the dramatic elements of the story with the action of a war zone, this movie will satisfy viewers looking for both these factors in a movie, but obviously not those craving a large dose of either one or the other. Not Greengrass' best.

Extras include a feature length commentary track and deleted scenes (with a commentary option).
